Rossmoyne St Scarecrow Season!

Launching during Porch Placemaking Week 2021 is the annual Rossmoyne St Scarecrow Season!

Beginning in 2012, the yearly event encourages residents who live in the City of Darebin, Melbourne, to create a scarecrow and display it in their front yard. Over the years there have been some amazing creations, with a few examples included below.

Other initiatives the group have undertaken over the years have included the annual Rossmoyne Rummage 2.5km garage sale event, the Christmas Carol Parade, community planter boxes and Rossmoyne Reading Exchange to encourage residents to connect. This social connection within the street has been even more important as we continue to deal with the impacts of ongoing lockdowns.

Creating this year's scarecrows will be a great creative project to keep people busy during lockdown. And once installed the scarecrows will bring a smile to the faces of residents as they venture out on their daily walk.

Event organisers have decided to coincide the launch of the event with Porch Placemaking Week.
